Just a thought, but isn't rust covered under warranty?

Only rust on the body panels not cause by "injury" is covered. For example, if the panels get scratched and then rust, it is your problem. But, if for some strange reason they just start to rust on their own, then covered by warranty. There are items on cars that will rust normally because they are made from unprotected steel. But, rust is not always detrimental to steel. Only in extreme cases. Over the past few years there have been some steel alloys developed that will allow rust on the surface without any loss in tensile strength.
