CEL 71
I've had problems with my car lately during startup. The past three times this has happened, cleaning the battery terminals, a jigging of the wires near the ecu, and replacing all spark plugs-checking for spark in all cylinders-checking for good contact points in the distributor cap, were remedies of a CEL.
However, now none of these prior cures does anything. I am still throwing code 71 which is misfire in cylinder 1. I dont know what else to do. Its relatively quiet, so I'm ruling out bent valves (although (I am doing a leakdown tomorrow), but the idle is a bit rough. Any suggestions?

Similar thing happened to me the cause turned out to be water in the distrubutor, any chance that alot of water could have gotten to the engine bay. If so try using some compressed air to dry things out.
check the resistance of your plug wires too-if out of spec replace them...seems like you've pretty much covered the ignition side of it.maybe check for a faulty/dirty injector.

I dont have my helms with me so I dont know the resistance of the wires. How would I check them? Just put the leads on the ends of the wires and check with multimeter? I already replaced the spark plugs so it couldnt be that...
And I went to home depot to get a compression tester and the incompetance there is unbelievable...where do I get one?
Keep the suggestions comin please

yes, test the plug wire from end to end.resistance should be less than 25,000 ohms.
any auto parts store should have a compression checker.

Another thing was brought to my attention. It seems as if my car only has this problem when its starts cold. I live in AZ so it doesnt get THAT cold. When I warm it up and restart, it seems to go away. I'm going to verify this tomorrow morning...
Did a leakdown...~230 across the board so I'm confident it isnt an engine internal problem. Since it cant be the fuel (only one cylinder misfire), the only thing left is the electrical system. I'm gonna check the resistsance tomorrow...anything else I should check?

i'm starting to lean more towards a bad or dirty injector.
