Default Is There Such Thing as a SOHC Z series motor???

My buddy bought his 91 civic si hatch off of a kid awhile back and he never really paid attention to what kind of motor was put in since the guy before him blew up the other one and they replaced with this one.
I dont have a pic, but i checked the engine code and all it says is "Z"

And his car pulls pretty nice for a sohc

anyone know of this and maybe some engine specs???

I think you missed the "C" after the "Z." As in, "ZC."

There were various engines labeled "ZC," including a SOHC non-VTEC, a SOHC VTEC, and a DOHC non-VTEC. All were 1.6L D-series engines.

It's very similar to the USDM D16A6 except it's EDM or JDM and it came in Civics I believe. 120-125HP, I think.
try these websites for more info. http://www.thezcresource.com
or http://www.quickhonda.com
There are a few other zc websites if you search.

Judging by your location, I may know the car you're talking about... If it is, then the engine is a SOHC VTEC ZC.... basically the equivalent of a D16Z6.

Easiest way to tell is to look for the VTEC solenoid on the back of the head.
