Default broke a few valve cover bolts...help?

wuttup gentlemen? so yes, a while ago i managed to over tighten a bolt on my valve cover and it snapped. then later on me and a friend are working on the car and somehow, he manages to break another one of the bolts...so yeah, i just let it be cuz i was lazy. and now i'm thinking that i want to fix it.

so here's the deal...the lower half of the two broken bolts are screwed into the block...i hope you know which bolts i'm talking about...they're really long...and they're on top of the valve cover and go vertical...of course you know what i'm talking about...anyway, how in the hell can i fix this?...the ****'s stuck in there...what can i do?...help a brother out...peace

Find the pic of it from hondaautomotiveparts.com. Order at a Honda dealer and viola. I had one broken once... just used a 12mm socket and just got it out and replaced it. If you cant find any pics. Just take out the bolt and bring it to the dealer. they should know which one it is with a little description from you

Depends on where they broke off.

If they broke off flush or below the block (i.e., they're in the block and you can't get to them), then the only way to get them out would be to drill and use an extractor.

If you broke them off at the top, then when you take the valve cover off, you should be able to put a vise-grip or similar tool on what's left to get them off. I'd try soaking them a couple of day in PB-Blaster or something like that to loosen them up before I tried getting them out.

You could also try welding a bolt to the top of it, but be careful not to get spatter on the valvetrain.

When you put the new ones in, get a torque wrench...

unfortunately, the bolt broke flush with the block...it broke about three inches below the head of the bolt...i have yet to take off the valve cover and take a look at how much i can grab...but worst case scenario, it's broken off flush with the block, what can i do?

oh, just get craftman's screw-out TM
it remove damage screws and...

okay, seriously, if it's deep down there, go to a machine shop and have them drill that out, don't even try to drill it out yourself.

or do the ghetto way, if the bolt you and your friends snap happen to be the opposite side of the Valvecover, try put like the whole tube of silicone there and prey it would leak or try BJ weld

that's why torque wrench and oil is nesscary for most of the engine works
