how many gallons!
Yeah, 17 gallons, but I've never been able to pump in more than a bit over 14 even when my tank is so low the engine would starve on sharp right turns. I guess the rest of the fuel system makes up for the remaining 3 gallons.
yeah i thought that was wierd about the 14 and 17 gallons, cause i've pushed my car to the light and i only filled up like 13.. for a tank driving it hard and going fast i get around 20.. is that about right or is something wrong? 20 street i usually dont go on the highway unless its late at night
With my original F motor I could get 36 mpg of pure highway driving (no 3rd and 4th gear pulls, just 5th gear cruising) and teens in the city with a lot of redlining. But for daily driving which is mostly stop and go for me I'd average 24 mpg.

**** people! tune your cars! i get 28mpg city driving (hard). however, during winter when oxygenated gas is distributed, my car gets ~26mpg... so tune your cars with a cam gear and a V-AFC, your fuel economy (gas bill) will thank you....
I truly doubt anyone ever got 36mpg highway. The car was only rated 31 brand new. Plugs wont increase effiency that much.....what did you do to the motor or is your second name just pinocchio? I'd like to know with the impending price rises when things get a bit hairy in the next few months. Maybe you were driving with the wind...heh
Anyways, while driving cross-country (5th gear cruising all the way, no 3 or 4th gear antics) I got 486 miles on a full tank and the gaslight was just coming on. At the station it took 13.6 gallons to top it off again. That's 35.7 mpg.
I could also easily get 18 mpg in the city with judicious redlining.
This is all on my old F motor.
