speaker mount depth?

Default speaker mount depth?

whats the deepest speaker that will fit in a stock front location? i know i can fit 2 1/4, can i go any deeper?

I'm not sure of the actual depth but I think it's only about 2.5-3 ins. at most. There aren't very many speakers that will. fit. I have heard of some people cutting or shaving or even removing the black plastic bracket, for more room though.
BUT the window is still RIGHT there. It's a tight fit.

Check my gallery you know where Garrett, made some MDF rings to give more clearance and still got the door cards on.

Take the plastic black cup-looking thing out, and cut the back of it off. I don't know how deep they are, but I bought a set of sony xplods like two years ago because they were red. After cutting the back plastic part off of the mount (not sure what to call that thing), they fit fine, and I had some HOTTTTT red speakers y0... then I put the grills back over them and nobody ever even noticed.

But yeah, you can chop that plastic thing up until it's just a ring around the edge of the speaker if you wanted. I think I still have like a full inch between the speaker's magnet and window when it's rolled down.
