Default Need some honest opinions.........

Hey everyone, I have been on HT for quite some time now and feel like I can get some honest opinions from all of you. Here's the deal, as few of you know I have a full race turbo powered 96 Accord that I have been building for the past 4 1/2 years. It is now in it's final stages of completion, with the excemption of a built motor that's going to be built by Earl, and I keep asking myself if it is lucrative for me to compete in the hot rod class.
What drove me to this is the fact that it seems as if everyone is building street class cars and going "full race" is for the people with deeper wallets. With a wife and kid that supports me 100% I feel that if I abort this project and dump everything into my EG hatch I would be very competative in the Street class. I know that my car will run 10's but do I feel like dumping a large amount of money to get into the 8's where the Hot Rod field is at? Or should I stick with what I have and just run 10's all day. As funny as it may sound, I don't give a $hit if my car only runs 10's but with my plans of running professionally 10's is not acceptable. I'm just confused right now cause I have plans of paying off debts and buying a house in the near future.

i guess you would have to wiegh the time and effort involved in making your car competitive in each class and go from there

Import Drag Racing is "lucrative" for a small handful of racers and you`re not one of them. Sorry, that`s just the way it is. Better to figure it out now rather than later....

Thanks guys, I had to post this because of the John Lingenfelter post. That gave me a reality check. Life is too short. You're right,1700anddroping, I agree with you on my priorities and that is why it has taken 4 1/2 years to build my car. I feel that I let my family down by not campagning this chassis-that's all.

if your wife is behind you 100%.then she will understand.you havn't let any one down, maybe your self, because like many of us we want to feel that RUSH.

HELL THIS **** IS WORSE THAN CRACK.IF YOU COULD PUT IT IN A VIAL,IT WOULD MAKE ALOT MORE THAN CRACK EVER THOUGHT ABOUT MAKING.

look at it this way.it sounds like you want to run with the big dogs, and i don't blame,to get your name out there.but you have to realize that it takes some really deep pockets to do this, where you have one motor i am assuming, they have 10,so don't worry about competing just go to the tract and have fun with the family, and if you lay down some knock out times, who knows you may have been in the right place at the right time.
