Default little exhaust question for yall

ok.. one of my future mods is to be the smsp header and i realize that is longer than the stock header. this means custom exhaust, but which way to go? custom piping all the way back or some frankestein setup... hmmm?

well it comes down to this i want to use an N1 or N1 style muffler with 2.5in mandrel bent piping and a cat. but i need it to have flanges so that when i hafta get smogged that i can put a stock looking exhaust on. i havent ever seen a shop do this. most of the time they weld it together and call it a day.

but my other thought was doing a similar thing. same sized piping cat and muffler, but copycatting the JUN exhaust (if its even possible) becuase that has got to be the most free flowing setup ive ever seen.

I guess my final question is, is what would i have to do to make the JUN idea werk or should i stick to the original plan(and too maybe save some headaches does anybody make a QUALITY axle-back setup an NA 4gen that has 2.5in piping)? thanks!

p.s.: i know this is the ricer in me talking but can a muffler shop make it so the muffler comes out at an angle like the real N1's do and not straight back?

y do u need a stock looking exhuast for smog check?

if u want to do that get a Thermal Exhaust system...i thought all u need was a cat for smog check and if that is the case get a custom exhaust that has a pipe that is the same size as your cat and have flanged on so u can just put a cat on when u have to go give emissions...

that is what i would do.

alot of the times they wont even test your car if its modded especially the exhaust.

this one is for those who own the smsp header: what did u do for the rest of your system, and where does the header end now as compared to stock?

Why dont you just buy an N1 setup from apex with 2.5" piping and then modify that. all it is one cut and a weld to make it shorter. Your new header will probably only be about 4 to 5 inches max longer . so cut 4 inches in the straight section right before the resonator or little bit after it .?
