I just got my zex kit for xmas present and need to know if i need to retard the timing or advance it all. i have 90 hatch with the beater d15b1. i plan on running up 50 shot and even though the motor has 230xxx miles it was recently rebuitl about 10xxx so should i still be cautious and run smaller shot?

 

Retard the timing quite a bit, and buy some colder plugs. You don't want detonation

If its zex fogger kit you dont have to with the 50 shot but if is direct port then retard it about 2 degress. We just installed the zex fogger on a buddies car 2 weeks ago and hes runnin a 55 shot no problem. Just go by what the instruction manual says or asks a local shop who does extensive work with nitrous.

Thanks for clearing it up. I haven't actually used nitrous before, just trying to give him a general idea

just retard the timming 2 degrees and get colder plugs to be safe.

 

the switch on the side of the zex box, the same one that you used to program the box.

 

definitly get colder plugs but if your only going with a 50 shot you shouldn't have to retard the timing, but my best advice would be to just follow the directions, it should tell you which jets to use for the fuel, nitrous and what the timing should be set at.
