Ok so i am in the begining stages of building my crvtec turbo setup. As most of you know the issue of this setup is highly debated, and it's honnestly scaring me a little. my block should arrive from AEBS soon with new sleeves and pistons and rods will be my next purchase. Probably pouter rods and je, ross, or wiseco pistons. i am going to replace everything on the motor just about (water/oil pump, belts etc. i hate people who ask these questions about will my motor last and how reliable will it be but i will end up spending lots of money on the project...so give me your honest opinion. o and it's a 00b16 head i am using with all new valvetrain. not really shooting for tons of HP, but i think i could be happy with 450/475ish lol....thanks

will you be using the oem crank? for reliability replace all the bearings with new oem ones. turbo motors are not known for their longevity, but if everything is built properly it should hold up for a good while. and don't worry when people give you crap about not being able to use vtec redline, turbo is not rev dependant it's all about load.

i will be using the oem crank and i planed on replacing all bearings and such. and are you saying that i will not be able to use vtec redline? because i plan to rev it to at least 8K
if it's built right.you can rev the hell out of it.but think about this,as you go up in hp you go down in driveability no way around it.when you say 450-475 your talking race fuel, and yes tuning is key.you said you were going to replace almost everything.well be sure to get a prodrive oil pump gear you'll be glad you did.

I aggree completly with tuning because it will be "t00ned" extreamly well. it's just the head block combo that makes me nervous and i'll add the prodrive gear to the endless list of parts. as for the 450 hp I don't plan on the motor seeing those #'s often. i just want to be able to pull it out if needed. daily i woud think about 280ish?
i should take back what i said,if you get the tuning right you can run on pump gas with thos #'s.there are several guys on here that are doing it.just make sure you get your block sleeved, most go to 84 mm.but that is soley up to you.the head.well get s/s valves i rec. ferrea
and some good springs and some t/t reatiners
some good or stock cams will do"gsr" those are really good for boost i hear.and don't let your foot get the best of you,no when to let up.
