Check the code off the ecu. The check engine light just indicates that there is something wrong, the LED on the ecu will give you the specific code, and you can troubleshoot from there.

Backhand that person across the forehead and read one of the many codes off of the ecu that the fine Honda engineers spent all their time building into our self diagnosing cars. O2 failures are probably the most common, don't throw money at something when the solution is hidden under the carpet blinking up a storm trying to tell you something before you spend all of your money on parts that are not needed.

Care to explain why your friends said to replace your 02 sensor without checking what code your ECU is throwing? Is that what your asking?

If so, then they were guessing as to what may or may not be throwing the code. Bad 02 sensors will throw codes after driving for a while, but symptoms usually follow; such as loss of power after the car warms up.

But you should really pull back the passenger floor carpet and check your the code your ECU is throwing.

*Bah I'm too slow.

There are a numerous number of codes that it can throw not 1 not 3 not 5 still more!!. Pull up your carpet count the blinks and let us know so we can help you out.

Also you wills till be able to get the code even if the CEL went off the ECU stores the code until you clear the ECU...I.E. Disconnect the battery,.....
