Default does cross drilled rotors affect the brake pad wear?

I was thinking of getting cross drilled rotors but i was wondering how does it affect the break pad wear? does it wear the same or does it wear faster?

well if you plan to just run them on the street and not on the track, i don't recommend cross drilled. get slotted. as far as it affecting brake pad wear, i have no idea

If they are not properly drilled (like most of the ones out there) they can decrease brake pad life and possible make your rotor crack.

don't be fooled by the "brembo cross drilled" rotors, most of the time it's just brembo blanks that some shop drilled into

any drilled rotor will wear your pads, true cross drilled rotors are actually "cast" in the mold with the holes in them and the holes are rounded at the edge

cross drilled rotors are good fro one thing, trapping pad and rotor material in the holes

they are also prone to crack

get yourself blanks and be done with it, cross drilled and slotted rotors are things of the past when pads had huge amounts of gases that would build up in-between the pad and the rotor

For steet cars or race and street cars? I think they do have some practical ap's for racing.

yes. porsche cup cars come new from the factory with crossed-drilled. Guys competing with them switch to solids...

The only app i could see is in competition drag where weight is a factor. But then again, you'd be machining them down anyway...

the way it is.. if you have a tendency to leave your foot on the brake while at a red light Orr stop or something you keep all the heat from pads and rotors together so cross drilled rotors stay cooler, so you don't warp them so fat. they also help to let gases pass threw as previously stated, but slotted rotors are for race more then street not like the other guy said... the reason they are slotted is so they can cut into the pad to allow fresh material to brake with..

I've had the sloted rotors and the cross-drilled rotors. My slotted rotors destroyed the pads in no time at all. The cross-drilled rotors have been holding up really well. Check with the Accord Store, they had a package deal on oversized, cross-drilled rotors, pads, and new brackets. Make sure of the type of calipers you have before ordering, or you might end up with something you can't use.

what happen is that alot i mean alot of guy i know that runs drilled rotor is cracked in no time, even brembo's crack.

If you plan to upgrade your rotor and you are not pushing almight 300whp, just get brembo blanks, if you pushing that much power, you should be using stock sized rotor anyways

That is true....but I plan to get pretty close to that, although not with the setup I have listed in my sig. In fact I'll probably be upgrading power before the brakes anyway, cause those gt kits are expensive...and I'm not exactly heavy on cash. This is going to be a slooooowwww process. Right now I'm starting to look for some decent, low priced 17s, cause my cash level is pretty close to that range.

I've had the AEM upgrade for about 55k miles now, no problems like warpage or cracking, average pad wear
