i took out my a/c because it needed frion (sp)
but i felt no difference at all. since.... the a/c compressor is only taking power when its ON, since it was aclutch pully or whatever

i took off the p/s belt only. before i use to get 230 on a full take on highways/city. without the p/s belt i now get 350 highways and around 280 highway/city.

you gained 50 miles per tank from freeing up about 3 hp worth of rotating mass??
i took off my ps and a/c because i didn't like them, not because i was trying to recoupe lost hp....

well....the a/c was just for weight, but the p/s was testing to see if there were any gains from it. no b.s. i do notice a little torque gain, but i didnt know about the gas milage..however, i did recently drive from vegas back home..375miles on a tank. found it weird my gas guage wasnt moving as fast as normal. i tapped it to make sure it wasnt sticking and it wasnt. huge power gains no. but like i said most of my reasoning was to get the weight out. i wanna make my car as light as possible w/o taking away from drivability. btw the side skirts are lookin ****!!!!

no it doesnt...only theres less weight so it could get a lil better bc less weight to haul around, but not noticable

i was thinking about taking my ac out too b/c the belt snapped one day and i have been to lazy to get another belt so i figured that i would just rip the entire ac out since i dun use it anyway
how long did it take u and how much did the entire thing weigh?

well i cut the 2 a/c lines right under the battery. then i unbolted the 4 bolts holding the compressor on. then i unscrewed the radiator mounting hardware, then the condenser hardware(right bye the radiator mounting hardware) and pulled it out. you just have to lift the drivers side front to get to the compressor. my short ram ruptured my high pressure line this past summer(didnt use a/c anyway) so when i did my timing belt, i just left the belt off. was a pain in *** to get back over pulley anyway.total time to d everything was 2 hrs and i was b.s.ing around plus painted my oem sideskirts. i was in and out in 2 1/2 hrs..can i buy someones oem gsr wheels and tires? thanks
it does not take long to take it out but with the power steering mount you have to leave on cause it bolts to the engine to i didnt want mine on cause you can feel the road better and less belt to turn as for ac i never used it anyway so why have it

I took all that stuff out of my civic. It freed up quite a bit of weight and I noticed it reved a little more freely. I did without p/s and a/c for about a year and a half in Louisiana and its currently off but its no longer my daily driver. I just bought a teg and its staying bone stock forever (or until the civic sells, lol)
how hard was it to get the complete a/c out??
and how much did the entire thing weigh when u got it out?
what happened when u opened the hoses or wutever
did and freon or wutever is in them leak out
is this something that i shouldnt do in my garage?
