Syncro mesh or whatever works?
I was just wondering if gm syncromesh could be used in our trannys. I have a 95 SE thats starting to grind in 3rd and is difficult to get into gear in first and second. Sorry if this is a dum question. I did a search but nothing came out of it. I believe syncromesh is like sae 80w gear oil. Honestly i dont even know what ours use stock so forgive me if this is an outrageously retarded question. If it cant be used have any of you noticed big improvements with redline or other synthetic gear oils?

If i had the money of course i would like to throw in some new syncros. That is not an option however, i'm looking for something to mask the problem.

GM Syncromesh has been used in Honda transmissions with very good results, and it's what I will use for the next fluid change. I'm surprised your search was not more helpful, since I know this has been discussed a number of times in the ITR forum.
haha... yeah sorry bout the search. I just tried again... i think i typed in gmsyncromesh instead of gm syncromesh and thats why it yielded no results.
Thanks a lot,
Ben
