how easy is it to install an alarm/keyless entry system in my car?
I was thinking of getting an alarm for maybe about $100~$200 off the internet, and since I have no money left over, I would try to install it myself. how easy is it to install myself? Is it something you would recommend me to try? or is it so hard it would take me days to figure it out?
I would like to know your views on me installing it for myself?
What are the best alarms for my price range?
I want to keep it as low as possible, but get something with adequate protection for broken glass and things like that.

i am a professional installer and i would say just leave it to the professionals. It really isnt that hard to do if you have some electrical background. the only reason i say leave it to professionals because they can warranty anything that may go wrong. if you mess someting up then you will regret the cost to have it fixed.
its not that hard if you have a little bit of electrical background. i installed my dei sidewinder myself and haven't had any problems so far (knock on wood). it can be a PITA splicing wires in hard to reach places like under your dash.
here's what tools you will need.
wire splicers
pliers
various screwdrivers
a socket set
multi-meter (i only used it to hook up my keyless entry to the door locks)
electrical tape
some automotive wire, (i bought a roll of black 16 guage wire from radioshack)
i think that is about it, but i may have forgotten something.
i used these sites for info http://www.bulldogsecurity.com and http://www.the12volt.com , there was one more that had a really helpful wiring diagram but i can't remember the name, if i find it i will post it. also use the wiring schematics in your repair manual (haynes, chiltons, and helms)
hope that helps
