Can a 2001 H22 head fit on a 1992 H23 Block??
Hey guys. I was looking at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and I noticed that the parts numbers for the heads are different.
My question is, can a H22 head from a 2001 engine fit on a 1992 H23 block without any modifications??
Also, what is the difference between the heads??
Thanks

h22 head is a Vtec head ...h23 head isnt a vtec block. Just like running Lsvtec your gonna be running h23 vtec..and there is modifications i believe. it will fit

i don't think the h22a4 head is the same as a h22a1 head, i don't think the coolant holes are the same with the open deck blocks
it will bolt up but i was told that it may over heat
but i never had them side by side to see for my self

H23 block and H22 blocks are the same. There is no difference between the two. And the H23 block will be running an H22 crank
Is there anyone who can confirm or deny this without a doubt???

i think joel is running an a4 head on his a1 block . or it could be the other way around. yes you can put a a4 head on the a1 block, i know there are people around that are doing it. yes the heads are a bit different becasue one bolts up to and open deck vs a closed deck, but if you are worried about over heating, just check the head gasket b4 you put it together , and moddify the coolant holes as nessesary
and yes the h23 and h22 closed deck are exactly the same , just a different stamp for the engine code.
