Why is it recomended to use the same brand cam gear, as cam?
I have heard a number of well educated, respected members recomend this, but I have never heard an explination as to why.
Don't they all do the same thing?
I know some are lighter than others, and I know some have more screws than others, and thus less chance of slip - but why the same brand cam gears as cams?

They all do the same thing, however some are more acurrate than others. The fitment is always better when using the same cam sprocket as the camshaft. It is always reccommended using all the same parts in the valvetrain.
If the cam gear is high quality, brand does not matter. Others may be of a different opinion. Cam manufacturers just want you to buy their gears, IMHO.

Well, that is what I would think if I heard skunk2 saying that... But I have heard a lot of neutral people (IE Honda-Tech members) give out that advice.

Well i guess people want it to match.. But i'm sure if someone was running skunk cams and had the choice or Toda/skunk2 gears.. IF they ever would be the same price..
I'm sure they would get the Toda's.. who wouldn't? lol
I guess it just makes a nicer looking mod list..
