Cutting off?
I have a 88 CRX-SI w/d16z6 engine, I bought the car with a blown stock motor. I have a walboro external fuel pump, RC Injectors, AEM Fuel Rail, B&M Fuel Pressure Regulator and gauge. My problem since day one is that my car does not want to start sometimes. It always starts when it is cold, when it has been driven for awhile and then I cut if off for a short period of time it may or may not start. I also have a new alternator and battery. I was thinking maybe a dizzy problem, what do you guys think? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That actually sounds about right Hcivic88. I have never had it not start while it was cold. If it sits over an hour it runs just fine. The other thing it was doing is, I would hit the clutch and the RPM's would drop so low that the car would just cut off. I turned up the idle speed a little bit since it was at like 500rpms at idle. Now I don't have that problems anymore. It runs kind of crappy while it is still cold too. Would it be better to replace the dizzy all together or just the ignitor if that is it? Thanks guys.
well ignitors have been known to go in these cars, so you never know... i had mine go on me and it was giving me the same problems, starting it first thing in the morning was easy, but if i stop somewhere for a minut(go in a store or something) and try to start it, it'll just crank really fast, not even wanting to kick or anything...

The MAIN relay will prove itself when you try to start the car. Turn key to the ON position and watch the CHECK light on the dash-it goes out after 2 seconds. You should alos hear the fuel pump run at this time. If those things are happening before you try to start-then it most likely is not the relay. Now try checking the ECU. As you turn the key to ON it should blink 1 time and no more. If more-count the number cand determine what the code means. We had a problem with cutout on track due to a Crank Angle Sensor that failed inside the distributor-it cannot be field repaired and produces a Code 4. The Ignitor problem was covered at one time by a TSB and recall-check that out.
Also related to this cutting off problem. The car will actually start when I go back out to start it but within seconds the rpms drop between 200 and 500rpms and bounce back between there. It then cuts off within seconds of doing this or if I touch the gas at all it will cut off immediately. Your help has been great and if this helps you to give me anymore advice on fixing this problem it would be great. Thanks in advance for any additional help.
