just thought i'd let y'all know wut up with my car
like two weeks ago i was driving only 65mph in the slow lane.. there was noone else on the freeway but this dog ran in front my caar so i moved to the right a little and then i guess i hit something then my car slid on the metal rail and ccame to rest in the middle of the fast lane and cd... there is no direct impact on the body of thhe caaar but it scatched the paint and thhhe sticker a bit. the main damage is the right side suspension, axle, the control arm, brakes, wheels, the crossmember and all tires... but it ought to be ready friday.. well the dog was not hit and i been drivin where it happened and can't tell what i hit but the wheel was bent back 90 degrees.. that all for now..
not to sound cold and ****..and i dont want the humane society after me..but u shoulda drove straight thru..
woulda saved u the trouble of getting all this stuff fixed on ur car.
unless it was a big dog..cuz then it mighta facked up ur front end.

a dog once strolled into my path while i was doing 45mph. Thank god for the dog i had ABS and quick reflex or the dog wouldve been a hood oniment.
I think you did the right thing trying not to hit the dog. Its unfortunate that you're car got wrecked. But it can be fixed. Heck, I slow down for squirrels in the road instead of running them over. All life is precious ya know.. but if the dog ran out in front of my car and I had no where to go, I'd have no choice but to run it over.
Did you just swerve or did you hit your brakes while swerving?

Good for you!I once hit a bird and I felt bad for a few hours because I kept thinkin it would fly out of my path. I can't imagine hitting a dog since I own one.

Slowerthanu,
If you want to pay for damages to someone for totaling their car while avoiding a dog on the freeway possibly killing themselves or others then you might have a point, but to threaten someone with a gun because they would not swerve on the highway to avoid the animal shows everyone on this board what an idiot you are. Why don't you look up the word humane and then think about what you posted.

My insurance actually told me to HIT any animal that crosses my path. They said if I swerved to miss it and wrecked they would not cover it!
I always swerve.....too natural of a reflex.

NO NO NO.what your insurance said is that if you hit an animal it would be a comprehensive and if you swerve and miss it and hit anything else that is not an animal, that would be a collision claim. For most insurance claims a comprehensive claim is less likely to affect your rates as it is considered a no-fault claim. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are eading you to crash your car, it's the thing that you hit that dictates what kind of claim you have. If you choose not to buy collision coverage than your insurance company is right when they say that there is no coverage for you unless you hit the animal ( asumming you bought comprehensive coverage )
I'm surprised that slowerthanu would kill someone for running over his dog ( which I can only assume he has let out of his care and control and placed in jeopardy ) Aren't we all God's creatures? Or just a chosen few of us?
