Valve Adjustment and Vehicle Performance?
My car had its 30,000 mile tune-up a week ago and it does not seem quite as fast. While it's probably all psychological, is it likely that a valve adjustment could be related? I also switched to Mobil 1 synthetic oil for the first time. I can't think of any other elements of a 30k tune-up that could degrade a cars performance. Anyone have thoughts or comments on this observation of mine?
Here's another question: Can the valves be adjust in a certain way to improve the performance of the car and not be correctly adjusted within factory specifications?

If it was valves then you should feel more bottom end? It is probably in your mind mate, maybe its because it feels smoother and not quite as angry that you feel it is slower...what does it do top end? valves tight = slower.
The valve adjustment is optimum with as quoted with the standard cam etc. Be very scared indeed if you stray from these settings

Yes, you can some what "tune" the performance of the cams by adjusting the valve lash. Basically the more lash you run, the less lift and duration you'll see.

It's a double-edged sword.
Run 'em tight and get a tad bit more lift.
I have been told that running them on the tighter side will cause your valvetrain components to wear more quickly. Not sure if there is any truth to this..
Just stay within factory spec, of if you are running aftermarket cams, follow the manufacturer's specifications.

I just get the dlr to adjust the valves on every service... I would take care of it myself but my wife runs the ITR as a company car, so it's all tax deductible...
Can't see sticking with the adjustment schedule from Acura... mine loosen up in just the 7k between service's..
