Default Gonna set my car on fire HELP!!!

Just kidding but maybe it got your attention. I am going mad with this little problem that I have. THere is something wrong with my main relay. Sometimes when I turn the car on it starts up primes the fuel lines and all is good. Other times nothing and then sometimes it kinda comes on but not enough to get the car started. The problem seems to come and go with the rain. I changed out the relay and that did not fix it. I am wondering if there is a loose connection somewhere but I dont know where to look. Maybe a loose ground on the fuel pump? can I check the wiring with the gas tank still in the car? I have half a tank of gas and I dont want to drain it and unhook the tank for nothing. HELP!!!

When you say other times nothing happens ? Does that mean the engine does not crank at all ? Could be the ignition switch.

You should buy a helms manual first. If you rip out the rear seat you will see where everything is.

Screw it, rewire your car, its easier

j/k, its probably just a loose connection somewhere, maybe you have condensation back there, or if you bought the car used, maybe something was poorly replaced

Happens with me too..i doubt its a loose connection though.
Replace it with a new main relay and see if it works and then tell us b/c if it did then I'm going to do it. Goodluck though man i'd like to get mine fixed also.

MWUHAHAHAHA!!!! I FIXED IT!!!

IT was a bad ground. The bold holding the ground on the water pump/thermostat was loose. All it took was one turn of the 10mm wrench and boom! We be in business. I read through tons of posts before anyone even mentioned this. It seems there are alot of us out there with the exact same symptoms I had. CHeck your grounds, all it takes is tenacity and a wrench!

I was just about to say check your ground on the thermo housing, but you already figured it out.

Congrats!

there is only one main relay its under the dash. See my IM to you. Also take that ground apart and clean it up really well, make the metal shine and make sure that everything is 100% tight. Sometimes just a little corrosion can do it.
