Default Need some good advice PLEASE!

Satan and ludykrus you guys are my saving grace

Ok I have been working on this h23 vtec motor for a while and put it all together minus the head.

I am debating on sparying on this motor. Not sure yet. My bottom end is Iron sleeved, crank was balanced, and rods shot peened and cyro frozen. I have J.E. 11:1 pistons and total seal rings. Everything is looking good. Head has skunk2 springs+retainers stock valves and crower stage 2 cams.

My question is should I take it back apart and change the rods. I dont want to but could do it later. I just dont want to be disapointed when I want to spray and am scared to break something.

So what do I do? I am so confused! thanks guys

either 75 or 100 shot. I dont think 11:1 is too high. Nitrous likes the compression. I am pretty sure the bottom will hold it I am just worried about the rods but really dont want to have to change them if I dont need to. I might not even use nitrous. I am just looking at all the angles. I know myself and I know I will want the extra power at the strip.

Well, nitrous loves compression to a point. At 11.1:1, I would only go over a 75 shot if you tune it on a wideband. It gets very tight to tune when you spray on high-comp.

What are you going to rev to? I would stay under about 7600, even w/ the balanced bottom end. If you have already put that much money into the motor, I would spare a little more and swap out the rods. It would just make a good precaution.

BUT the only rods for the H23 are the Crower's, and they're nowhere near cheap.

If it were my motor, I wouldn't worry. I would run the oil squirters, aim them right, and dog it out I'm gonna be puttin out similar numbers probably, and I'm using stock, unadulterated rods; yours are cryo'd and shotpeened, which makes them significantly stronger.

Thanks. I am planning on reving to like 75 or 7600. Yeah I know the crowers are it and yes that sucks. I am hoping to get at least 200 to 210 N/A. So I might not even want to use N20. Also If I do do it I would have to do direct port so I dont F%$^ up #1 piston.

I just dont want to pull it all apart again.

By the way, where are you in GA. I am based in Valdosta but am deployed to places unknown right at the moment.

I live in Flowery Branch/Oakwood, but I am frequently around Gainesville and Buford/Lawrenceville, and I work at the mall.

If you're ever in the area, you should stop by and check out my motor

Well thanks for the help. I will probebly just leave it alone and only spray like a 65 shot tuned on a wide band. So, where do you get your stuff tuned. I havnt had to do anything like that since I have been in GA. So I have no clue where to go.

I haven't had anything tuned yet, but the bigger shops around here are Balanced Performance, Knowledge Performance, and one or two more.

I know they do a pretty good job, but they're are fairly expensive from what I hear.
