The v-pak came out about a year ago and is fairly nice for what it is, certainly better than the v-afc because the fuel maps are pre-programmed. However, IMO Hondata is by far the better alternative.

Well, yes. I was one of the first itr owners to install the jrsc more than 3 years ago, and ever since, I've had tons of dyno time with a v-afc and most of JR's "black boxes." For 99% of the people on this board who don't know how to tune a jrsc'd type r, the fuel/timing maps of the v-pak can be useful for no-frills gains. Again, I will reiterate that none of them come close to Hondata and knowledgeable tuning.

But your v-pack/"black box" isn't what the thread starter posted about, right?

I'm pretty sure he was asking about the vpac because he included a picture of one in his post.

on me. Didn't even look.

So is that just a black-box piggyback unit for JRSC cars or what?

Yep it's a piggyback for jrsc'd cars. I'm not sure if it helps n/a cars, probably not. It's meant to be used with JR's BTC and MAP controller. When I had my J&S hooked up, that would make a total of 4 black boxes and a tangled mess of wiring in the passenger footwell One of the many reasons I jumped ship and went with hondata.
