I currently have a jl 12w3v2 in a generic Fry's Electronics Box. I personally don't think it sounds good. I have a jbl 300.1 amp powering it. Anyone know any good places to get a box (sites? stores) that can do dimensions of JL's? I would like to find a JL box, but i have no idea where to purchase them. Whenever my sub hits, it sounds like it hitting plastic.. even when i have the trunk open... wtf is this???

my box looks exactly like that one. But that one is within the 1.0-1.5 cubic ft that jl recommends. Do you think i would notice the difference using that box than my current one? They look exactly the same! I don't know the cubic ft i'm running right now though.

Build a custom box, or find a local shop to do it for you. Generic boxes generally suck, unless you check the specs closely and find one that is very compatible with your sub.

best place to get a box is from vteg. he makes very very very nice boxes. he made me one and along with other h-t members. im not sure if he still makes them. pm him.
find a place that makes custom boxes...they should look at your trunk, subs and amps before giving u an estimate...for the best sound and thump out of your subs u need the right air space and box...so do it right.
i think that box is fine. depends also on the car u have. experiment buy facing the sub towards or away from you. sometimes it sounds different, also try putting your backseat down, small stuff like this makes a difference... my friend has w3s, bumps good in his DA Integra with his backseat down. he also has a sealed box.
your subs might sound like it hits plastic cuz of rattling.. you could get Dynomat or something like it... they sell precut ones for your license plate too. bout 10 bucks
