ok me and some friends were talking and he said his Ls could bet me on the freeway cause he has high end torque. He has tuned cams, stage 4 clutch, and upgraded fuel system. what can i buy or do to my gsr to get more top end out of it. Also his car is heavy it's 2000 civic and 2-12in. subs with Ls swap and i'm 95 civic with gsr swap.

Slap a turbo on and you should be able to take him.

 

Why are you worried exactly...? Im 99% sure you would pull on him. What model civic do you have (i.e. DX? EX?) and what does he have?

i think it may be a close race, depending on the cams he has. You can always get cams too. Some skunk2 stage 2 cams would do

 

GSR has good top end in a hatch, but it depends how aggressive his cams are...

 

Skunk 2 Stage 2's and youll be set

can cams on a LS increase hp by 30??...

 

just cams will not, but if you upgrade the rest of your valvetrain it should come close to 30 hp

 

Depends which cams. I think 404's can do 30.

 

I doubt he'll be able to take you. I'd race him now.

If you want to mod and definately beat him then you could spend 300 bucks and get ITR cams.

 

i got 95 civic lx:stage 1 clutch, intake, 5zigen exhust system, light weight pullys, no a\c, andv-tec controller
he has toda cams. but when we race i do him badly like 4 cars badly but he says all is different on the highway.

 

u want top end power get a skunk mani. along with the above suggested cams and you will completley waste his ***. you should put some money on this seeing as how cocky and confident your friend is. plus what spec toda cams does he have in his car a,b,c?

 

toda doesn't make cams for LS

Him : 2000 civic with B18B LS engine with Cams, clutch and fuel system
You : 1995 Civic with B18C1 GSR no mods?

im sure your car should be faster, unless you cant drive. i would think his car might (not saying it is) be better off the line and maybe 1st and 2nd because of his better bottom end power and torque, but you should at least pull on him from 2nd gear.. all through 3rd, 4th and 5th

MY car: i can get half a car to a car off the line racing 98 on up gts,and win buy that much i can drive but he can't. but i know some people are like if you can do this then why are worried because just like mustang are little slower on the free then maybe i am to. from what i hear ls tranny's are made for that.

so just wait for him to blow up his engine....since he's not really running any sort of fuel managment.

exactly, 1st and 2nd he might get you a little, but guranteed when your 3rd hits, you'll pull him with no problem. Unless you can't drive.....LS

As for you beting that civic, yes you should probably.

My 90 civc si with ihe and a cam beat a 92-93 integra GS with cams and pullies, had about 1/2 - 1 car on him.

ok its is a video with a hatch killing a viper or vette on the street, driven by a girl built by her and her boyfriend at there shop in Houston called Auto Logic. he has the motor out of that car.

 

I say run him now.. Forget mods... You are pulling him by 4 cars.. How fast and long do you plan on driving on the highway?? Start at 45mph then pull him all the way to 70 and the race is over.. No need to drive miles doing 100 and above.. Just remind him that if he wants to see who has the faster car to meet you at the track and get the slips for bragging rights..

 

Man, you'd win. Granted that you have a 4dr civic, it doesn't matter. Your gen body style is still about 200lbs lighter than his civic.

I'm pretty sure you'll win. Hell race him for a full tank of gas or something.
