Default Another hard question for the Honda tech gods.

Among the jumping idle I have, Nobody seems to know what causes the clunking sound in the front end while driving. I am thinking that it could be my bad axles, My boots are worn so I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the bearings inside being bad, but it only started it when I put my neuspeed sport springs on.
any thoughts?

Having no idea what your mileage is, I can only say that MY Neuspeed Sport/Koni "yellow" shock setup does not have any problems after 30,000 miles including track days. You say that you know that the CV joints are an issue-take care of that and see what happens. I suspect that the lowering simply agravated the existing problem rather than causing it. WHy you have an idle problem is an unknown since you tell us nothing about whether you have any engine mods, the mileage on the car and very important how you are driving it. Could be something as simple as a new cap, rotor, wires and plugs and set the timing and valves.

Good luck and happy holidays

For your clunking problem. I might have an idea. I have ground controls on stock shocks/struts and the spring gets stuck up in the top of the strut in that rubber gasket type thing and when the wheel goes down the spring sticks on the top and then clunks when the wheel comes back up becuase the spring hits the bottem of the coilover. Im not sure if that would be the problem in your case having springs but jsut thought id let you know.

Have you checked for worn bushings?

the car has ruffly 140,000. I agree that maybe the springs aggrivated a existing issue. as far as my idle problem, I posted a previous thread about that, exodus helped me out on that one.thnks bro,
and as far as my bushings they all look fairly decent, no rotting or anything, maybe they were replaced before I got the car.
It is a light clunking, that I feel more than I hear, and it's very very inconsistent.
