Default Having Problem fitting GE Dowel Pins

Hello,

I just received my Golden Eagle LS/VTEC Dowel Pins, and I noticed that they fit perfectly in both ends of the head and block, HOWEVER, they do NOT pass through the Head gasket... What is wrong???

Do your stock ones fit through?

no, the Golden Eagle Dowel pins are so , u don't have to drill out your head, they are chamfered. Here's the Link so u can understand what I am talking about.

Are you putting the dowel in first then the headgasket? Maybe you have to put the headgasket on first then the dowel then the head. hth

Either end of those dowel pins should fit through the hole, because on one side of the dowel is the perfect fit for the head gasket and the other side of the dowl should be smaller to fit the smaller hole in the head.

what head gasket are you using? if the pins fit the block and the head properly then the problem its the gasket, bore it a little.

Please say this isn't after 6 beers....

nah a buddy of mine had the same problem, they were very tight going into the b16 head AND the LS block. He just took a rubber mallot and started them into the block, put the head gasket on, then lowered the head onto the dowels.

The weight of the head pretty much sat itself on them, then tightened the head bolts in order. 8k later and no leaks.

do you still need to plug the oiling hole in the head?

yes, the head has to be either threaded and plugged on welded to block the oil for the remote line on the back of the block.

yea, i've heard it's a really tight fit for the head gasket but fits the head and block perfect.

Sorry for the confusion, we will have more detailed instructions on how to get them to fit soon. If you are using one of our gaskets then both sides are opened up to accept the dowels without any modification, but if you are using a completely stock gasket, then some minor sanding of the gasket in the dowel hole location may be neccesary. It's prett easy though. If you have any more questions, please let us know. Thanks
