going to look at a 'teg to buy - couple questions about what i should look for
Hi. I currently have a '94 GSR, but want to find one with lower mileage, so I'm going to look at a '95 GSR tomorrow with 66,000 miles on it. Just wondering...
What should I look for as possible indications that it is rusting, etc. The car was driven only 7,000 miles per year, and left outside for a period of time, so I' wondering things I should be careful of, or to look out for because it's been sitting out, undriven for a while.
Thanks
Tim

It could rust pretty much anywhere....but check the rear quarter panels the inner lip of the fenders, check all the weather stripping, look under the carpet in the trunk/hatch.
I could probably think of more places to look, but I don't think it is possible to completely look over a car perfectly and catch every flaw (if any). ya know ?

Yeah I think rust would be my main concern, and of course drive it and
check the usual stuff....
I would check brakes to make sure the calipers aren't siezed if the car
hasn't been driven in a long time.

Thanks. What exactly should I look for w/ the control arms? Just rust? I will probably bring somewhere to have the compression checked too, as the only reason I am getting it is for a turbo.
Woohoo - turbo, i can't wait
Thanks again

But what (re: bushings), etc. should I look for. He's asking $7490, but I'm def gonna talk him down. Nada and KBB say $6750-$7250, it's got 66,000 miles, black leather interior, 1 middle-aged owner, and all stock, so I can start fresh with a car that probably wasn't beaten on.
when you look under the hood ,look and see how far they advanced the timming, check and see how far they turned up the distributor, thats a good way to see if its been beat on. my friend bought a civic and his distributor was turned all the way up, we didn't realive it till we went to the gas station and put in 87 oct. then we realized
I'm kind of an idiot. I am learning my ****, but how would I tell if the timing was advanced?
Thanks
Thanks
just look at the distributor from the passenger side. then look and see if the bolt on top of the distributor is right in the middle, you can only turn it so much either way, but you can see if its been turned . easy
