Wheelie bars
I was thinking about getting stiffer springs for the rear for improving my launch but the idea of having to swap them every time when going to the track didn't really pleased me.
Right now I thinking about maybe making myself wheelie bars which (I think) would be a lot simpler and faster to install so my questions are:
1. Where do you mount them ? (Pics would be nice)
2. How long are they ?
3. What kind of wheels do you use ? How high from the ground are they ?
4. And if I was buying them instead, how much would it cost ? And who makes them ?
Thanks.

65 inches from the farthest point of the rear bumper is max. many people cheat and don't include the wheels. don't go to NHRA unless your ready, Jim Skelley has a tape measure......NHRA

kens unit is awsome. the price is second to none for the parts included. They also come with the longest lasting wheelie bar wheels on the market currently. Give kerry (chassisguru) a shout.-pete
i can vouch for you on " the longest lasting WHEELS". However, its the bearings inside the wheels that dont last. I got a set from Quarter max.com and they use a chevy front wheel bearing, which will support alot of load and speed and you can replace them. I highly rec. them, expensive though.

not to cost someone a sale or anything, just a voice of reason. anybody who runs wheelie bars will tell you they are the biggest PITA involved in a running a "full drag" car.... just get yourself some compression and rebound adjustable shocks like Tokico 5 ways and stiffen the rears on race day.... plenty of people running low 10's and quicker with those.
My wheelie bars were built by Franks Custom Fiberglass and are great! I can install them or take them off with in a minute. They are also fully adjustable.Give him a call for a price. 610-488-9132 http://www.frankscustomfiberglass.com

Cool, it seems people in this thread are pushing so and so's for sales, and not really answering the questions being asked.

Not anymore, Jim is working on moving shop and just keeping his regular parts on the shelf as it is.

Make sure that the pickup points on your car are supported well. Don't run a tube off your frame more than 2" in length without supporting it or it WILL flex. If it flexes it negates the reason you're adding them. If you can, build your points in some rectangular layout and put an x-brace in it. It's pretty simply just use your head and you'll be fine. Just make sure the points don't flex, I see a lot of pro cars that we race with that do and it hurts performance. Also, make sure that there is no play up and down in the bars once they're attatched (use good himes). When you're at the line they can't touch the track. If there's play up, then the slack has to be taken up before they become rigid, and you'll transfer more weight than if there was no play. We had to use a small tie strap on Kenny's car this last season to take up slack...you don't want to have do that, trust me
. On wheels use Wheeleze wheels, they're the best out. Expensive but the best. http://www.tirecradle.com/wheeleze/wheeleze.htm Good luck!

shhhhhhhhhhhhh... your giving all the secrets away, id love to post the pics of my wheelie bars and how they work ( cause it totally diff erent then anyone else). But i spent 2500 for a major chassis builder to sit and think about it. and then build them. sorry i just cant reasearch it for months and then pay a pro all that money to make it happen, and then just give it all away on HT. I love HT but i gotta draw a line some where...
