Okay I have had my car for a little over a year now. I paid 1200 for it with a slightly wrecked front end which I just discovered I can get fixed for around $300.00. I blew my the head on my zc a while back and then Got it fixed and then after awhile messed up the block. I recently did a d15b vtec swap just to get my on the road again and then my brand new clutch burnt out and it doesn't do 1st or 2nd very easily. I have invested about 3000 in it not counting the cost of the car and it is now sitting in my driveway with a bad clutch not going anywhere. Normaly I wouldn't have a problem with pulling the motor and putting in a new clutch except for I hate working in the cold.
Now the question is, is this car really worth my time and money or should I just sell it for What I can get out of it maybe 300? and start over with another one.
I'm not one to quite very often but this is draining me and I'm just really stressed. I'm 19 and havn't had a job for the past 3 months but just got on at UPS for seasonal and then I get to stay on after christmas too.
So what would you guys do? I guess I'm just really tired of working on this car and getting NOWHERE!
Well thats about all. Sorry for taking your time up with this super long post but I guess I'm just venting!

I felt the same way about my EG after doing 2 motor swaps a clutch/tranny swap and blowing the last motor, i just got to the point where i hated working on that particluar car because i had done everthing you could think of to that car at least 3 times, so i got my crx and now im probably gonna do the same thing come this summer
if its your first car i'd say fix it. if not f*ck it and get something else. i just lost my first car and i miss it very much even tho i got a hatch. wish i could just throw in a clutch and my car would be fine!
Hang in there man. I've had just as bad luck as you, if not worse. After thousands upon thousands of dollars and a few motors later, I'm still in the game. A bad clutch isn't too bad. Working in the cold really sucks, but dress warm and dedicate a day to replacing that clutch and you'll be able to enjoy your car again.

well I'm planning on putting the clutch in tomorrow. I'm thinking I'm gonna drop the motor to take the tranny off. I replaced it once before when I did my motor swap but came across a problem when buying the clutch. I first bought a 89 si clutch and it was the wrong size. I bought another clutch and it was the right size but the wrong throw out bearing. I had a zc before and I was wondering what clutch to get for the zc tranny? Of course I'll check it out and compare it before I buy it but I was just wondering what clutch.

you talking about the supra? I don't really know what DSM stands for all I know is most people refer to the talons and eclipses as DSMs?
i had a 1g dsm loved the car.. dont get unless you can afford it.. cause when it takes a **** it takes it really bad. dsm's problematic and require alot of maintenance and TLC. if you want to get rid of crx for 300 i might come trailor the bitch back here

I didnt' say I wanted one of those. I said I wanted a 91 supra. Don't get me wrong I love the older eclipses/talons too.

and I don't know if I would trailor it back. the thing is rusting out on the rear 1/4s the drivers door, the gas tank, and as I said before in other posts the sunroof is rusted clear through and the arms are broken off so it is just held on by duct tape.

yeah thats what I'm thinking but now that I have an okay paying job(for me anyway) I will try to get that fixed. I know a welder that is really good that is out of a job right now so I figured I would get the rear quarters for him to weld on. and I figured that I would aslo just plug the sunroof.

like what parts? well I guess there is the interior-perfect 2 si seats, 4 89 si rims with new tires, 91 front bumper, a new d15b vtec engine with wiring for si crx.
Bad doors bad fenders all around bad sunroof? anything else. I guess I probably could get 300 out of that.

somebody posted that awhile back in kills. I didn't know how to quote it correctly so I don't know who it was... I just thought it was funny.(talking about fart cans.)
I once had a Civic for 7 months or so, and I only got to drive it 362 miles... It was so unreliable, and only once was it a mistake on my part. I ended up selling it...
If you want to sell it for $300, hit me up. I can make a road trip

Unless you buy a brand new car or a warranted car, any other car you pick up is not going to be a problem free car. They are money pits, constantly needing mending and replacements until the day you get rid of them. Remember, a car isn't an investment.
If this your only means of transportation, then by all means fix it now. It'll save you the hassle of shopping for a decent car, changing insurance and getting the title changed.
If you have something else, put this car aside for another day.

If once was enough of a mistake then why would you make a trip to Ks to pick up one thats already falling apart?
Just a thought.

because I have something I like to call "buyers denial" lol. I always buy crap cars thinking I can fix them up. $300 is a good deal, even if someone was to part it out. Can't even find a D15B for that cheap...

Yeah I suppose thats pretty much what I had/did with this car(denial) But after seeing the car in the worst 1/4s thread I have some hope.
