Default stupid, poorly assembled japanese POS

So I just got my car back from the body shop the other day. Last night I'm driving home from work and I notice in the refelction on the tailgate of the truck in front of me that one of my turn signal bulbs is burnt out. I made a detour to Pep Boys for some new bulbs and, like a genius, decide to replace the bulb in the parking lot before continuing to drive. Safety first, right?

What I didn't notice in the dimly lit parking lot (it seems like it used to be much brighter. Perhaps they're trying to discourage parking lot repair jobs) was that the little metal tab that the mounting screw threads into had fallen off (stupid jap design ). I noticed this morning that I had been dragging my front-left turn signal along the road probably for most of my drive to work.

Now it's all scraped and cracked.

I feel your pain. Our turn signal designs are the WORST. I always end up pushing mine in too far and its a bitch to get back out.

Also, I think my rear bumper is falling off lol

Not meant as a racial slur.

For those of you just tuning in, I'll add this disclaimer:
I am not saying that this car, or Japanese cars in general are inferior nor do I mean to start a flame war regarding Honda's build quality. I am merely poking fun at myself for doing something mildly stupid while also pointing out some of the design aspects that make our cars less than perfect. A lot of h-t members seem to put Japanese cars, and Hondas in particular, on some silly pedistal, and I am the type who likes to knock them down a peg. Also, I used the word "jap" much like one would use the word "brit."

Just buy new speed nuts from an auto store... I had to do that when I bought torx screws for my old clear corners, since the threads weren't the same size as the OEM screws.

And the design couldn't be any worse than 92-95 Civics, where the corner lenses clip into the headlight w/ 1 screw holding it to the headlight. They can be a PITA to get them flush and line up right.

Sucks.
I've always sort of "wondered" about people that go on driving down the road oblivious to the bits and pieces that are dragging from their car.

yup, same crap with #386. The mounting tab for the bottom screw on the dead pedal broke off at the weld (cause the damn sheet metal is too thin). The top screw is about to break off as well, so basically the whole dead pedal is completely loose, and I will have to JB weld the damn thing back on there...

Oh, and the various squeaks coming from the passenger dash board, driver seat, and hatch are starting to **** me off. (I need a daily driver damnit!!! winter driving the R suckzorz ).

Other than that b.s., the car is running great

hahahaha, oh no, I'm "that guy."

I guess I should consider it practice for when I buy my first British sports car.

I did the same exact think with my corner.... I think the factor of embarrasment outweighed the mild scraped on my turn signal

If you want vault-like hermetically sealed construction - you need buy Mercedes Benz products

BPR - who has to buy those frigging tabs on a regular basis because they keep falling off

don't feel too bad, i've seen this old lady pushing a giant metal trash can which was caught/smashed undern her front bumper, sounded as if someone was scraping snow except it was summer and sparks flying everywhere, loud as it can be but she just kept on moving..

That's actually the nice thing about those clips. If you strip the clip you can simply replace it.

But duct tape works, too.

I ended up replacing the screws holding the corner lamps in my EG back in the day because they kept falling out. Hmmm...
