Heater Hose Size? Can it be capped off at the block?

I'm in the process of removing my heater (it's a track only car). I'd like to remove the heater hoses from the head and replace them with metric-to-AN flare adapters and then cap them off with aeroquip AN caps.

Does this sound reasonable and does anyone know the size of these holes or hoses?

On the head I removed the hose fitting and installed a plug. The plugs for the rocker shafts work great. For the back of the engine I just used a 1/2" copper end cap from the hardware store and pluged the end of the rubber hose.
Excellent. Thanks for the reply. I'm off to Honda to buy the rocker shaft bolt and crush washer!
The other end of the heater hose on the Prelude connects to a metal tube that runs along the back side of the head. So you used the 1/2" pipe fitting to block that?
I guess for now I'll run a hose from side to side, which will alow me to remove the heater and keep the car running before I get the other side (on the metal tube) welded shut.

Hey arent those the adapters you use to be able to run those fansy braded hoses and replace the regualar cheap hoses? Do they make those in different sizes? I would like to use those on my oil lines and coolant lines.
Where can i get them?

that would be tight to replace the oil and coolant hoses with braided units. they handle higher pressure too, don't they?
i just wish i had a heater, i need the blower motor and the heater core. but i can't use usdm units. i need the jdm parts, they're a mirror image of the usdm parts. it gets too cold in my car some nights, and suck when i can't do anything but roll down the windows when i fog up in the rain. sometimes i hate having a right hand driver.

Google Aeroquip or Earl's fittings. There are a ton of places that sell these fittings. And yes they come in many different sizes, shapes and purposes.

Yes, exactly. I cut about 5cm of that size hose, put one end on the coolant tube from the block and put the copper cap in the other end. I put it in smooth end first so that the sharp end would have to dig past the hose clamp to come out. It has not leaked for the last two years. I agree that welding the coolant pipe is a better way to do it.

It is fine to cap it. When the heater is off, it's basically capped. I put a plug in the head and eventually welded up the hole in the return tube:
