anyone here done auto to 5-speed conversion?
im currently considering gettin a motor swap done along with a auto to 5-speed conversion. has anyone had experience doing this? Any recommendations? Pros, cons, etc?
ok, well, I dont know which car you have.. but I did one for a buddy of mine.. it was an 89 4dr civic dx which was converted to an Si 5spd.
you will have to get the pedals from a 5spd, you might as well and spend the $$$ for a helms manual for your yr car (with both auto and 5sp diagrams) and read it read it read it
you can get a helms manual at http://www.helmsinc.com
oh yeah, keep the wiring harnesses that go to your car, and modify those, dont go out and get the wire harnesses from the car you want to make your car into.. it will saveyou a lot of headaches
leave me email if you have more questions

The conversion isn't that much more difficult than a regular swap.
the only difference is (on 92-95 civics) is the side tranny mount. On manual it's flat and straight like it needs to be, on automatics the mount points up. That's on the chassis of the car. You just need make a custom mount, or I'm sure HAS or Place racing sell mounts. I know Place racing sells the mount, but it doesn't work well. Anyways the shift linkage bolts right up also. You just have to puch out on the car where it mounts, but it'll just perfectly to the motor. Anyways it's not hard swap. If you have a good chassis I'd go ahead and do the swap. Oh yeah and putting the pedals in, and running the hardlines for the clutch master cylinder to the slave cylinder is easy. The place to which everything mounts up to is there already.
Over all the swap isn't any harder than a regular swap.

I did mine ( b16a2 with auto to manual) in a 96 dx hatch. It was not hard to do but did offer some complications. dont worry though it is worth it when you are done. I tool mine out after and ran a 14.7 with it.

Ok, so maybe I do have hope. Cause i'd rather go hybrid then go out and have to deal with another car payment since my civic is just about paid off!
