Default lsvtec reliability

I know there is prolly a thread about this but i cant find one so im sorry if this is a constantly reapeated question but is the lsvtec reliable for a every day driver or no thank you for any help you can give me

It can be reliable. It just depends on how much you are willing to spend on the extra or upgraded parts to get the motor to be reliable. But if your asking if slapping a vtec head onto a ls block and ride it to 8000 rpm, then your answer will be no. Because problems will start to occur over time. I did it for my friend. Got close to a year before the motor was dead. But it was quick though. And again, my friend was being cheap as possible and he knew that it was gonna give out soon. HtH

Just find a way to keep your motor cool when running high compression and check clearances and balancing. You really don't need to go to 9000 rpm for a nice setup. Between 11-12:1 c/r and decent cams making power good to 8500 will do you just fine, trust me. Type in "lsvtec" in quotes when searching - tons of info... good luck!

From my experience, everyone blows their LS/B20 (CRV) VTEC projects. However my experience is somewhat invalid due to the lack of knowledge the owners have. But I agree with the URL link provided that Honda would have done so because it does add a performance edge to the car, there is just too many reliability issues. Not to mention you can't be the R/S ratio of the B16a. Just my 2 cents
