rough idle
This morning I try to start the car and it turns over for a sec then dies. I try it again, same thing, it runs really rough, kicks over to 1500 RPM or so then dies again. I repeated this process 5 or 6 times.
This whole time the check engine light is on. It came on immediately after starting the car.
Then I shut the car off, turned it back on and it is running fine.
I saw smoke coming from the back of the motor on the tranny side, white smoke, but not too much, near the fuel rail and injectors.
The whole ignition system is new from the dizzy to the plugs.
Any suggestions?

YIKES!
I'm curious what caused that smoke...look to see if anything is out of the oridnary behind the motor. That doesnt sound normal.
Sometimes a bad idle can be caused by bad grounding on the injectors...I know cause it happened to me

Nah, i really had no time, I had to go to work. I thought you needed a OBD scanner to check the code?
The check engine light comes on almost everytime I drive the car. One of my 02 sensors are plugged in right before the cat and I think that is why the check engine light normally comes on.
But this time it came on immediately after starting the car, which never happened before, and after I fired it up again it ran fine for the most part. I am curious to see what happens tonight after it sits all day.
What really scared me was the smoke. I am thinking it is electrical b/c the car was sitting all night and when I started the engine it was cold, but 5 seconds after I started the car, I popped the hood and there was smoke coming from the back of the engine. So it has to be electrical b/c why else would a cold motor smoke?

you didn't specify if you had run the car since you replaced your ignition.
if you had just replaced the dizzy and everything, make sure the spark plug wires are all in the right place.
