4th gen lude gas door wont open

my gas door wil not open when i pull the lever i have got it to open but i need a extra person to hold the lever up while i pry the door open need help im open to all sugestions

there is a little piece that goes on the hinge so when you pull the lever it pops the door its number 22 i think.
