what swap to choose....cable b16 vs hydro ls (long)
i know i still have a loooong way to go, but i want to know what you guys think....i have a 90 crx and the most common swap is of course the b16...in the future i plan to boost....but of course, first step is to do a swap, but what should i choose? i know cable tranny's are becoming harder to find these days and now that hasport has made the cable to hydro conversion, might as well give it a try and if the tranny goes out, there's an abundance of hydro tranny's everywhere...so basically the two setup's i'm debating about are the b16 (cable tranny, obd0, etc) vs ls (probably get a gsr tranny, obd 1, etc).
In the future, i will be boosting until one of these motor's blow...then either build up an ls/vtec or gsr...if i start with the ls, i'll already have the advantage. I'm here to see if you guys have any experiences with these or not, some people tell me they like the feel of cable rather than a hydro tranny...or it's vice versa...so hopefully you guys could help me out!
Thanks in Advance

i like the feel of the cable but i would say go with the ls, more room for advancement i guess. plus i've seen stock crx's with ls's beat b16 rexes until the top of third gear.
if you're set on a turbo, go with the ls. i have no direct experience with the tranny, but from what i gather, finding parts to rebuild a cable tranny (or a replacement) is a bitch. same goes for the b16. with the ls, you get all USDM goodness (i.e., cheap.)
furthermore, my theory is that any extra horsepower you can get with vtec you can get without vtec just by turning up the boost (and that power will be at lower RPMs, therefore more torque.)
