Default What head gasket to get...

My planned SOHC build will consist of the following, D16Y8, PM7 pistons with a final copression of ~12:1 depending on the head gasket i choose. What i want is just around 12.1:1. To do this i will need a head gasket that is between .059" - .065" with the mill i have on my head (.01").

I have been looking at the SCE Copper head gaskets at summit which they carry one that falls in my range however i have heard that copper gaskets don't seal as well. Is this true? The gasket is only $78. Either way i need to get a gasket within this range, what are my choices and what kinds of gaskets are better than others???

Hmm...would a D15B7 - D16A6 head gasket fit on my Y8??? That would give me 12.2:1

TIA,

Vince

Is that gasket #91366? SCE makes both the pro copper and TITAN self sealing copper gaskets. The TITAN incorporates bonded self sealing water passage gaskets and the strength of the copper combustion gasket. Email me for a price, I'll beat Summit's. You tried Mr. Gasket? I give um a call tomorrow and see what they have.

The A6/B7 headgasket will work on the Y8, but it's kinda weak. It would have the highest chance of blowing.

Where did you find the TITAN SCE headgasket?

My setup is going to be very similar to AgentJam's, so I was hoping to get some info from you as well!

Yeah I'll need the T91366 (Titan). This will give me a 12.1:1 comp ratio with my head mill and that's perfect

Take a look, straight from their website...

http://www.scegaskets.com/products/titan.html

It looks pretty good to me I guess, but I haven't heard anything about it. I'm gonna send them an e-mail and see what they say. I Haven't found a place to buy them yet...
