Default Exhaust Ticking

My car makes a ticking noise after being run and I shut off my car. Started happening after I had my Carsound Cat welded on. Also sounds like my Cat is fubar cause I can hear the internals rattling around inside of it.

Any idea why it ticks? Could it be due to the clogged up cat? Thanks in advance.

i think it has something to do with the cat cooling off. My exhaust does that too where the resonator is, i think its pretty normal.

that's weird you said something about this.

my resonator rusted out and i had a new one welded in and my car ticks like a sun of a bish after i shut it down.

it sounds like a timebomb, but unfortunately it never detonates.

im pretty sure its just the metal cooling down that causes the ticking. started happening to me when i switched out exhausts

That's all it is. It is just the metal expanding and contracting. It is not big deal.

What would cause the ticking though? Just trying to figure out if I had a leak because I did read somewhere on H-T that it might be a leak?

One more thing kinda off topic but not really actually. After I installed my Greddy 4-2-1 header, when I start my motor and rev to 3k rpm and let it fall to idle, it doesn't fall smoothly but pauses for a very slight moment near 2.5k rpm then 2k rpm again. Would this be due to a leak? Thanks guys for the input.

when the exhaust heats up the metal expands. the ticking is the metal returning to its original shape

You could have a small hairline crack somewhere. I had this problem with this header on my civic. It turned out there was a crack in the header.

The tick also happens while i drive or when the car is running. So possibly no leak? I do hear a little hissing when I mash it in third going down my street sometimes.
