i was showing this girl i know how to drive stick...i took my foot off the clutch slowly n after the hesitation the car rolled, instead of shutting off. I tryed to stall purposely-- gave it no gas wat so ever. does that mean that my clutch is good, or is the tranny designed to do that????

yes, if u let off slowly, when fully off the clutch the car will idle slowly like an auto would

 

its just because of the idle, when you engage the clutch the idle pulls it along as long as your not trying to go uphill, your clutch is working normally

 

no your clutch is bad when yo dont have to sue the clutch for anything. An accord i drove the other day i didnt have to touch it at all. Weird. and yes it was a manual tranny.

 

If the car didnt move I dont know whats wrong with the tranny if it pulled off slowly then thats normal. If you put the car in gear and let off the clutch like you were giving it gas and it jerks and stalls that how it should be. Good luck with teaching her how to drive.

 

The easiest way to test the clutch is put on the parking brakes put in 3rd gear. Release the clutch. If it slips at all it's going. Should stall right away.

 

i heard different. i heard that if you put it in 5th and let go of the clutch. if it doesn't stall, your clutch is bad.
