My sunroof flew off also. 80mph on the highway, I hear a tupperware "burp", and look up just in time to see my panel fly fifty feet straight up in the air. I watched it fly the entire way and crash down on the side of hte interstate. I'm lucky it didn't kill somebody.

What did you do after that? Get it repaired?
Those carbon fiber sunroof plugs are expensive, you figure for that price I could get a new panel from honda. hmm.......

I walked back about four hundred yards, straightened it and put it back in. I bought a new panel from a salvage yard for forty dollars and prepped it. I'll install it in the spring. I love my sunroof too much to plug it up.
yup, looks about as bad as mine, i had holes in mine.. lucky i decided to fix it before it flew off.. fiberglass, and bondo.. believe me that **** will never rust again.. took me 2 weeks slowly working on it.. i had plastic over my sunroof while i was working on it.. i have to say it was worth it
One of my previous cars, a turbo legacy, had a brake pad fly out. someone replaced the vented rear disks with solid rear disks (which are obviously thinner). I didn't know this. I was cruising along at 80, and I hear a bang and my brakes go out. So some poor guy got a pair of pads in their front end. It was at night in heavy traffic.
Sorry to hear about your sunroof. I've got the "white widget" problem where the left side won;t go up, and sometimes I worry about the panel flying off. every time I go to the pick-apart yard the first thing I look for is sunroof parts. too bad all the other cars of our vinate had the "slide inside" style panels.

That sunroof panel isn't worth fixing.
PS: Your lucky it didn't kill someone when it came off.

does anyone else notice that this kind of stuff only seems to happens to EF guys? sometimes you just have to laugh a little. But that is crazy, if you don't have a lot of money to work with just try to get another one from the junk yard you know it will fit with oem quality.
My sunroof on my crx was like that before, one side wouldn't close unless I would pushup on it and let it drop like 40 times everytime I went to close it. I was lucky enough to have a parts crx and stole the whole assembly(bottom part thats in the roof, not the panel though) out of it and put it in. That fixed the problem with the panel not closing but then I ended up spending like 300cdn to get a new panel because when I had my car painted the guy at the shop laughed at me and said "no, I am not even going to bother painting that!"
Dang, can you imagine what that sunroof looked like flying off the car from another cars point of view? I would have been like "WTF?". But if I were you I'd def. get a carbon fiber sunroof plug.
