Engine rebuild or bolt-on mods
What are people's opinions on this matter:
For $1800, a reputable shop can do a complete headwork (new seals/seats, clean, valve angle job) plus a complete block work (new pistons, rods, bolts, rings, hone and bore) on my 94 GSR with 100kmiles.
Now with this amount of money would you go ahead with the rebuild or buy $1800 worth of power adders for the GSR - header (350 for DC SS 4-1), CAI (150), exhaust (450), plus cams and tuning (price?).

This is a really hard question to answer. You really have to base it on what you know of the existing condition of your engine. Did you put all 100k on the car? If not did the prior person/persons perform the maintence schedule? Reliablity is always top on my list of priorities. What you can do first is a leakdown test and a compression test. If your numbers are good go for the performance mods. 100k ain't crap on our cars if they are taken care of properly.
As far I know there have been 3 owners including me. The previous owner claims to have never modified the car - engine or suspension. The whole car in and out is very clean and I don't think it was really beat on. However, the engine does burn 1 quart of oil every 2000 miles when I'm a little aggressive with the acclerator. Its a question I've been pondering about for awhile.

If your engine is burning oil, I'd suggest doing a rebuild because I am also a fan of reliability.
