Have anyone found a replacement k&n filter for the comptech icebox?
I was wondering if this is a good idea, or if ther is even a k&n filter that fits. I just dont trust that unifoam. Ive only had the icebox for 2 months and its already dirty!
How often do you clean your filter?

I know it doe not seem very performance oriented, but I always thought that K&N outflows just about every filter out there. I was wondering would there be a difference in performance if a filter could even be adapted.
Actually the unifoam filters flow very well... particularily cause they don't filter worth a poop!!!
The oiling of it helps but... A K&N would be a great idea..properly oiled and cleaned they filter and flow better than anything.. the dirtier they get the better they filter..
Just get a hold of a sympathetic parts store and run through thier cataloge and find the closest fit... It's well worth modifing for..
Thanks
I wasnt really sure about it at all. I am not sure how often to clean the unifilter. Any ideas?

BENCH TESTED, PROVEN: Foam flows better, period. Will the difference between a foam and cotton filter make much of a difference? Highly unlikely.

I took the stock paper filter and cut the top and bottom plastic pieces out. Then I grinded the lip off the top piece until it was even all the way across. Then I used two part epoxy and glued it to the top part of the K&N. It's ugly but now you have the nipple. Then I cut a the rubber in back of the K&N so the stock elbow will fit inside of it and used epoxy on that. I am using the stock inlet pipe so thats why I used the stock elbow. That's it. It's a pain in the *** but I don't have to clean and oil the filter every 3000 miles like the foam.
I don't clean mine every 3000....works just fine. Maybe clean it twice a year, but that will vary depending on how dusty of an area you live in. Same with cotton. Cleaning is no different for the foam vs cotton, they will both get dirty just as quickly, because they are BOTH oiled. So much misinformation.
Why go through all the work to MAKE a filter, when there is one that drops right in? To save $20? That's going overboard, for little or no difference, IMO.

There is really no difference in performance except sound. I still prefer the k&n.
