Handling question s2000 and C5
I have driven in both cars, an s2000 and a c5 corvette. The thing is i wasn't very impressed with the c5. Its a boat of a car to drive, and also i feel that the s2000 is a funer car to drive. I was wondering though, which car will be best for handling on a track stock from the factory. Does anyone have any experiance with these two cars? I am considering buying an s2000. thx.
There was an article about 2 years ago in I beieve C&D...and the S2k wasn't as fast as the C5 on the track...but they said it was a lot easier to drive. The C5 was a torque monster as they put it. They also had a Boxter and M Roadster in the mix. Hope that helps somewhat.
the S is a fun car to drive and you are right, the C5 is a boat in a way. the seats and the interior are lacking, but the C5.. specifically, the z06 will dominate track/autocross and drag over the S any day. there's no contest there. but it is one helluva beast. if you are learning or haven't tracked the car.. I highly recommend it, for either car. or else... you won't last that long.
You can pick up a nice used low-mileage Z06 for around $33k, so why even bother with the C5? I haven't driven a C5 on the track, but from what I gather it's got plenty of roadholding ability but not much handling. Regardless, the C5 should be faster (with the same driver in both cars) than the S2000 on your typical 2-3 mile road course.
