VSS sensor or wiring. (vehicle speed sensor)

It's located underneath the plastic intake tubing.

I have the same problem. However theres also loose wiring for another sensornear the VSS... im drawing a blank of the name of that sensor. Cause when i messed around with that wiring, my speedo worked for a bit, but as i drove some more it stopped working.

I think i have to buy a new sensor... anyone know how much it is for the VSS?

You may have a speedometer head going south. A quick way to test it is to get on the highway and then set your cruise control. While driving along ... watch the speedometer and when the speedometer drops off ... see if you continue to stay at a steady speed or if the car slows down and the cruise light turns off.

If the speed stays the same and the cruise light does not go out ... the speedometer head is bad.

If the speed drops off and the cruise light turns off ... then the speed sensor is bad.
