This is the only pic I have right now, very basic setup. stock D16Y8, Greddy 92-95 kit, sidemount (for now), stock exhaust, cat, clutch, etc.
Coming this spring:
DRAG III FMIC (already have it)
ACT HDSS clutch
Apexi N1 cat-back exhaust
Carsound cat (or test pipe)
10 psi and 200-210whp expected on open downpipe
I'll have more pics up this spring, but I was just wondering what you guys think of it, looks wise. I'm looking for a new look this spring. I sold my wheels to HamB18C1 (DAMN I miss them
) as well as the CF hood and lip.
I'm thinking:
JDMShit.com CTR lip
CTR replica headlights
stock OEM hood instead of CF
(car almost got stolen when it looked like above pic)
15" - 16" wheels: either Slips, Circuit 8's, or gunmetal blades or Si rims.
Opinions?

I've already been through the whole exhaust debate, I'm not going to get a full 3" turbo back, it will NOT be cheaper than an Apexi N1 cat-back. Here's why:
Custom 3" downpipe - 200-250
3" cat - 100 w/o2 bung
3" piping - 225 from Kteller8
welding - 100
3" resonator - 75
muffler - 100
That's roughly $800 for a 3" setup. It's not as cheap as you think.
It's not worth the 15whp I'll gain to spend an extra 400-500 dollars. keep in mind that I"m a college student on a budget. For less than 200whp, the stock greddy downpipe and a 2.3" cat-back will be fine.
I'm def. going CTR lip and headlights, not doing the rear though (for now, at least).

Hey dumbfuck, I know what the **** the Thermal 3" price is, and you're right with the above price. But all it is is a cat-back system, that does not include the cat (100) or downpipe (200-250).
So I did my researching, and YOU are the moron.
Typical H-T uninformed haters.
If you're gonna come at me with accusations, at least be correct! I'm not going to buy a 3" cat-back if I'm connecting it to a 2" downpipe. And I'm only making 200whp, it's not a full race car. That's why I'm getting a 2.3" cat-back and spending the rest of the money elsewhere in the turbo setup. BTW I can get an apexi N1 cat-back for around 300 bucks used, maybe less. so the cost effectiveness is there. an extra 500 bucks for a 3" turbo back is not worth the 8-15whp I'll gain from it, I'll just run open downpipe at the track.

Thank you...in the last year, I've tried to do a buttload of research on EVERY part I buy for my car before I buy it. I just want a tasteful, clean 13-second greddy turbo EX coupe for less than 2k in mods, and I think I can do it this summer.

heh...i think he was arguing that you are comparing a 300ish n1 CAT BACK, and gaining the extra $ on the custom cuz you are including DP and 3" cat... thats where your extra $ came from..... and whats wrong with running a 3" custom exhaust on that stock 2" greddy DP? thats what i ran on your setup
heh, it loved it..... car looks nice.... i think you could get the same kteller setup 3" cat back, buy a muffler from him, and a 22" resonator ( weld in place of cat for test pipe) ... more power, good deep sound, and about the same price as a smaller N1. the n1 will probably look a lot nicer though. and you wont have to worry about getting it welded. and it shouldnt cost 100 to get 5 welds done.. maybe 6 ... plus hangers...
either way... i KNOW the 200 is easily obtainable with that setup, no cat, fmic, and some nice tunning...... not sure if id run 10psi on a blue box though?

Sucks for you i could get free welding. Since you dont care about gains since your a college kid run the stock **** for a while until you have enough for all the bullshit you just whined about. Do it right or dont do it at all.
On another note nice car just slap on some circuit 8s rather then slips. The good old rota special.

just out of curiousity, what is that black spot on your fender? Is it just my monitor?
I think bronze wheels look good on red cars, try to get your hands on some OEM style fogs, as difficult as that may be. Some new side mirrors would be good. Is that brake caliper paint I see?

don't get me wrong all nice wheels but I would get something a little less common, I would also stray away from the whole dark wheel thing(unless you dont like cleaning your wheels
) I'm kinda getting sick of always seeing it I think some nice silver wheels will really clean up your look.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by boostincoupe »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Opinions? </TD></TR></TABLE>
I would also get rid of those mirrors as far as the rest of your asthetic mods go. Also since the car does already look good have you thought about putting the mods elsewhere? Have you upgraded your brakes? some gsr brakes all around along with ss lines and some good pads will go a long way.
I notice you have the stock seats in there too, a nice set of del sol seats for example will really help improve the 'driving experience' and spruce up your interior a little bit.
I don't know what you have for the suspension either but an ITR rear sway with a beaks kit(if you dont have it already) totally changes the way the car feels through corners.
Hope this helps

No need to be rude. Who gives a **** if you get welding for free? honestly.
I'm not stupid. I know that a 3" turbo back would flow better than my planned setup, that's obvious. But you have to consider the cost-to-effectiveness ratio (can you tell I'm a finance major?). if I can run the greddy downpipe, gutted cat/test pipe and 2.3" $300 apexi N1 and make 200whp @ 10 psi on the greddy turbo, why would I spend 400-500 for the 3" Thermal and make 205-208whp, or $250 more for a 3" downpipe so I can make 210 or 215whp? is 10whp worth $500 extra? no.
That's like buying an AEM cold air intake and DC sports header, which I had a year ago. and I gained exactly 10whp combined. for $500 total. WOW.
The fact that I"m in college doesn't mean I should just have to leave my car alone until I get money. Did you ever stop to consider that the max stock WHP for a D16Y8 motor is about 220whp? I'm just not going to gain enough power for the money I'd put into it. I have the FMIC already, I'm going to order the clutch after christmas, I'm just deciding on an exhaust.
Just like the other tool - do your homework before you question my intentions. I know what I"m talking about, thank you very much.

you can run 10 psi on the blue box, no problem. been done many times before. All it does is throw your injectors into open loop, which makes them flow 380cc. So regardless of boost level, they flow the same rate. which is why they're so rich at 5.5psi. That's why when you up the boost you're actually leaning it out and heading towards stoich, thus making more power and getting better mileage.
Oh yeah, and with the sound issue. I've heard a N1 cat-back on a greddy turbo 96 EX coupe like mine with the stock gutted cat - it was really quiet and actually sounded great. a 3" would probably be too loud for my tastes anyways.

paint your CF hood, screw the other lip, paint those headlights ur self and maybe lookinto geting a rear lip.
it doesn't make sense to get ride of the CF hood but then add black head lights ad a bigger lip
