Are Racing Axles worth the extra money when replacing Axle??? Where can I find some?
i am thinking of replacing my axles as my joints are going out. I have seen that I can get the axles replaced for about $300. I am assuming race axles are in the range of $900. Is it worth it and can i get race axles cheaper anywhere??
Check out www.driveshaftshop.com. I just got a pair of Stage 2 axles from them. The axles have billet housings and are much beefier than stock. Definitely worth it.
If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for all including installation?
I paid $500 for them plus s/h. A friend and I installed them in about an hour. Shops around here usually charge $50-$75 an hour and they shouldn't take more than 2 hours at the most to install. So don't pay anything more than $150.
If you are getting new axles because of joint wear, I don't know if it is totally worth it to you. It is WAY cheaper to change an axle out for another OEM one if you give them a core exchange. Unless you snap axles frequently, or have high amounts of hp and are afraid of snapping your axle, it wouldn't seem worth it IMO. I think it was only like $150 for a new axle with a core exchange, and it came with a 1 year warranty!
I can get axles for $80 and when I take the core back i get 40 back so i dont really wory about breaking axles. my mecanich only charges me 50 to replace both of them .
