cant really hear the power of sohcvtec stock, no theres nothing to activate vtec it does it by its self and kicks in when you have oil presure. do you know what trim it is like ex,dx,Type R? and is it auto?

which would be better a cold air or a short ram?
But I also heard from a honda tech that vtec doesnt really need the cold air and short air would be better, but that was just one person I asked?

its up to your preference...get a short ram with a cold air extension and see what you like better
vtec should activate between 5000rpm and redline, not sure of the exact rpm
yea, with intake, that vtec should scream, espescially on a cold night

you aint gonna feel the vtec on the sohc accord engines, they engage at like 2300rpm, and it's not even like that big of a deal, the way the sohc vtec cams are ground, when ur not in vtec, only one valve opens fully on the intake side, and the other stays closed, sorta like a 12v engine, it promotes swirl in the combustion chamber. When vtec engages both valves open up for better flow. No biggie, not like DOHC vtec, where your dramatically increasing the lift and duration of the intake and exhaust.

you cant really hear vtec engage in the GSR with a cai, you prob heard the secondaries opening at 5600rpm

what? sohc vtec works the same way dohc vtec does (oil pressure engages and locks a 3rd rocker arm with the other two rocker arms that are controlled by a more aggressive and larger cam profile at a certain rpm) the secondary intake runners are part of the vtec system (no vtec is not just one thing)...that just shortens the length of the ports the air travels through in the intake manifold so that the motor has extra room to breathe (suck in air fuster) in the upper rpm's, and as stated previously, it is normally what makes the sound that so many call vtec...

i dunno, open the header or take the intake off...why are you so obsessed with hearing vtec...it's not a major form of power, it's merely a way to let the engine breathe more efficiently at higher rpm's in order to let the engine rev higher, thus making more power out of 4 cylinders...but, in the case of the accord, we got shafted and ended up with a bad rod stroke ratio motor that is unable to rev for ****, thus vtec is somewhat of a mute point on the f22b motors of the accord...
I agree Vtec in the SOHC series was not made to make the same amount of power as it's DOHC counterpart. The changover isnt nearly as aggressive. Hearing it change into Vtec isnt going to make you any faster. If you absolutly must hear it then take off your exhaust and see if you hear it then but dont be alarmed if you get lots of noise violation tickets. Go H22 and you'll hear it more, as for SOHC Boost up baby!!!
