:: tuners help - how to fix flat spot on dyno (vtec, cam gears, cams, advance timing)?? ::
first off, here is what the dyno looks like, this isnt the actual dyno, but you get the idea. anyways, i was wondering how to get rid of this dip/delay in power and smooth out the graph. i have asked around and get a couple of different answers.
- adjust vtec engagement point
- adjust cam gears
- advance timing
- swap to itr intake cam
which of these are right or wrong? what do you suggest? lemme know, TIA

The main thing is to adjust the vtec engagement point and adjust the a/f around that area to smooth it out.
Also doing timing and others will help maximize your gains.

im not a tuner but my graph loooked like that and it was fixed by moving the vtec point down.

wurd, lower the vtec engagement point. try to look at your torque curve more. you can usually tell more from that.
What you want to do is set vtec at 100 rpm then rev it up till 9, then set vtec at 9 and rev it up till there. Where those two torque graphs cross is where you want to have your vtec engage. Remember, the more area under the torque curve the better!

my tuner adjusted vtec point as well
my tuner adjusted vtec point as well
the engine starts to choke with the low cams around that rpm and I can speculate honda wanted to make sure you werent slipping in and out of vtec by accident so they raised it high enough to prevent this, just lower the engagement point. I can also speculate it would be more of a contrast to have that sudden surge of bottled up power, very smart
