how would I know if my shocks were blown?
I've been using stock shocks on skunk2 adjustable springs (lowered 2") for about 6 months now. I know these have a pretty high spring rate and people say this will blow out you stock shocks pretty fast. I've been over some hard bumps once or twice but I haven't noticed any particular difference in the way the car feels since the day I got them installed.
Does this mean I blew them the day I got the springs on?
Did they not blow at all?
Or is the difference between blown and intact shocks on these stiff springs just too minor to tell a real difference?

if your car continues to bounce a while after you go over bumps, they're blown. if you have a really stiff ride, but the bouncing goes away right after you go over the bump, your shocks are fine

that is incorrect.
the ride will not tell you that the shocks are blown. the bouncy ride tells you that you do not have aggressive enough compression damping to properly control the springs.
if you want to see if your shocks are blown, take them off the car, inspect the shaft for scratches and scorings. Fluid around where the shaft goes into the shock body also indicates that the shocks are blown. These are telltale signs, but they don't mean they are blown. sometimes a seal could be loose and you can have leakage, but I'd be willing to bet if you see these symptons your shocks are blown.

have u ever seen a car with blown shocks? my friends supra, the rear shocks are blown, and when it comes to a stop, the rear just bounces like mad for atleast 10 seconds. yes, you can feel blown shocks, the whole point in them is to give you a good ride and keep you steady after you hit bumps.

:rolls eyes:
yes I have seen and driven cars with blown shocks, I am simply stating that having a bouncy ride doesn't mean you have blown shocks. and please, since you are soo smart, enlighten me....tell me what a damper is for, tell me how it works, tell me what is inside of it.

yeah I didn't think they were blown and what you have said has confirmed that. Although I will be getting some replacement shocks. More than likely KONI yellows.
